Factory Mercruiser Trim & Tilt Pumps
Please note that some of the older power trim assemblies & parts
may be no longer availiable (NLA).
Many have superceded to the more dependable newer style pumps
that have the no-rust plastic reservour bottle.
Older trim pump units had no reverse lock capabilities and the
outdrive had a mechanicle lock mechanism to hold the drive down
while running in reverse.
Mercruiser then changed that reverse lock system to a hydraulic
lock system which consisted of a reverse lock valve in-line with
the systems hydraulic hose.
The Hydraulic Reverse Lock Valves are now NLA and if your lock valve
fails, then you will need to buy the new style special replacement
trim pump assembly that has a reverse lock valve built right into it.
Please note that you cannot use a standard newer style hydraulic power trim pump
to replace the older pumps that had that extermal hydraulic lock valve.
The older pumps are considered to be "high pressure/low volume" pumps
whereas the newer style pumps are "low pressure/ high volume".
